2023 Toyota Crown

The entry-level Crown XLE comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, power-folding and heated side exterior mirrors, keyless entry with touch-sensor front door handles and trunk, and LED taillights. A step up to the Limited adds 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels. It also upgrades to quad-LED headlights and comes with a panoramic glass roof with a power sunshade. The top-level Crown is the Platinum. It has 21-inch two-tone wheels and an adaptive suspension. The Platinum offers an appearance package that adds two-tone exterior paint for the roof, hood, and rear deck, and it adds gloss-black trim around the taillights.

Power for the XLE and Limited comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and three electric motors that combine to generate 236 horsepower. It works with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The Platinum gets Toyota's Hybrid Max system. It's a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gas engine and electric motor that puts out 340 horsepower. This setup uses a six-speed automatic transmission and comes with all-wheel drive.

Both powertrains have plenty of power to quickly and easily propel the Crown up to cruising speed. The XLE and Limited will reach 60 mph in about 7.6 seconds, but the Platinum will get there in 5.7 seconds. The ride in the Crown stays smooth and comfortable over most road surfaces. If you have the Platinum's variable adaptive suspension, it will automatically adapt to changing conditions for better handling and a smoother ride.

There's room for up to five people in the Crown, and the cabin is spacious and upscale. The XLE has cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and power-adjustable, heated front seats, while the Limited has leather upholstery and adds ventilation to the front seats and heat to the rear seats. It also comes with a heated steering wheel. Tech features in the Crown start with a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, several USB charging ports, wireless charging, and a six-speaker stereo. The Limited upgrades to an 11-speaker JBL stereo.

Every 2023 Toyota Crown comes with Toyota's Safety Sense 3.0 bundle. This group of safety systems includes forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, an intersection assist system, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beam assist. The Crown also comes standard with adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, road sign recognition, and a lane-keep assist system. The Limited adds front and rear parking sensors, and the Platinum comes with a 360-degree surround-view camera system and an automatic parking system. This feature allows the Crown to park itself in parallel and perpendicular parking spots.
